Why I Built This

Every developer knows the feeling: you want to build something new, but you're stuck on what to build. I spent months searching for my next project — browsing Product Hunt, scrolling through Reddit, reading Hacker News for inspiration. I found plenty of tools to help with coding, deployment, and marketing, but nothing to help answer the most fundamental question: what should I build?

I wanted a tool that could take my skills, interests, and available time, then generate personalized project ideas with real market potential — not random suggestions, but scored and analyzed concepts I could actually ship as a solo developer.

When I couldn't find anything like that, I built it myself. VibeGen started as a personal tool to scratch my own itch: an AI-powered platform that transforms your developer profile into actionable project ideas, complete with market research, product requirements documents, and implementation task lists. What began as a side project became something I believe every indie hacker needs in their toolkit.

VibeGen is an AI-powered SaaS platform designed for indie hackers, solo developers, and small teams who want to go from "I want to build something" to "here's exactly what to build and how." Every output is designed as a practical starting point you can immediately act on — not a generic template, but a personalized plan tailored to your specific profile.

VibeGen combines state-of-the-art AI models selected for each task. Anthropic's Claude Sonnet and Claude Opus handle detailed PRD generation, market research, and implementation task lists. OpenAI's ChatGPT powers idea validation with simulated customer feedback. Fast models handle quick idea brainstorming for rapid iteration. The same AI technology behind vibe coding tools like Claude Code and Cursor works behind the scenes to analyze markets, evaluate competition, and create actionable project blueprints.
